California's Public Utilities Commission approved Waymo's expansion of self-driving taxi services in Los Angeles and nearby cities.

California's Public Utilities Commission has granted Waymo, Alphabet's autonomous vehicle subsidiary, permission to expand its self-driving taxi services into Los Angeles and cities on the peninsula south of San Francisco. Waymo, which has been operating its driverless service in Phoenix since 2020, has updated its Passenger Safety Plan and expanded its operational design domain, allowing for its approval.
