Shaun Robert Sturgess has been found guilty of murdering his estranged wife, Jacqueline Sturgess, by hitting her in the back of the head with a sledgehammer in 2020. The jury at the Brisbane Supreme Court deliberated for 2.5 hours before reaching a unanimous verdict. Sturgess had initially pleaded guilty to manslaughter, but the Crown rejected the plea, leading to a single count of murder charge.
