Researchers at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center identified a transitional alveolar cell state with KRAS mutations linked to lung adenocarcinoma, potentially benefiting early treatment with KRAS inhibitors.

Researchers at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center published in Nature a study revealing new cellular pathways and precursors in lung adenocarcinoma development, the most common lung cancer type. Using single-cell sequencing, they created an atlas of 250,000 lung cells, identifying a transitional alveolar cell state with KRAS mutations that can lead to lung adenocarcinoma. KRAS inhibitors could potentially benefit early lung adenocarcinoma treatment.
