Kenya's Attorney General, Justin Muturi, has advised the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) to halt the collection of the housing levy, which has been declared unconstitutional by the High Court and upheld by the Court of Appeal. The government is now pushing to enact a legal framework, the Affordable Housing Bill 2023, to anchor the tax within the shortest time possible.
