Irish government plans to revitalize 26 towns through the 'multibillion euro' Town Centre First scheme, focusing on redevelopment, community spaces, business support, and tourism.
The Irish government has published plans for 26 towns to be revitalized through the 'multibillion euro' Town Centre First scheme. The plans, developed in consultation with local communities, include measures to redevelop derelict sites, create community parks and walkways, boost small and medium-sized businesses, and develop tourism potential. The scheme also includes the appointment of town regeneration officers in every local authority to drive implementation of the new plans. Funding for the revitalization efforts will come from a range of government and EU funds.
