First Nations leaders near Hope, BC have raised concerns over an oil spill caused by a landslide in December, calling it a "regulatory failure." The spill, which occurred above the Fraser River in Herrling channel, saw an estimated 2,000 liters of waste oil spilled after a heavy rainfall-induced landslide reported to CN on Dec. 6. The paving company's oil tank tumbled down the slope as a result of the landslide, causing the spill.
