FDA announces voluntary phase-out of PFAS-containing food packaging due to health concerns.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced that food packaging containing "forever chemicals" called PFAS, linked to health issues, are no longer being sold in the U.S. The FDA credits this phase-out to a voluntary effort with U.S. food manufacturers to remove food contact packaging made with PFAS. The chemicals have been linked to health problems affecting cholesterol levels, liver function, immune system function, and certain types of cancer.
