Algeria inaugurates the largest African mosque, Djamaa El-Djazair, ahead of Ramadan.
Algeria has opened the third-largest mosque globally and the largest in Africa, named Djamaa El-Djazair. The Grand Mosque of Algiers, with a height of 265 meters and world's tallest minaret, was inaugurated by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune ahead of Ramadan. Constructed over seven years by China State Construction Engineering Corporation, the $900 million mosque features a library, helipad, and can accommodate up to 120,000 worshippers.
