Washington State lawmakers are advancing a bill to make school bus trespassing a gross misdemeanor. The "Richard Lenhart Act", named after a bus driver killed in 2021, aims to close a loophole in existing trespass laws that left school buses unprotected. The bipartisan bill, sponsored by members of the Senate Committee on Law & Justice, has received support from the House Committee on Community Safety, Justice, & Reentry with amendments.
