Over 16 months, 30 Kentucky prison staff were found involved in sexual relationships with inmates, and 14 others smuggled drugs into prisons. In response to a Herald-Leader newspaper investigation using the Open Records Act, 62 employees were fired or resigned. The Kentucky Department of Corrections takes allegations of wrongdoing seriously but faces continued scrutiny over employee misconduct.
