A Christchurch apartment fire led to a dramatic rescue as a child was passed out of a top-floor window. Four Fire and Emergency NZ appliances were sent to fight the blaze on New Brighton Rd in Shirley. Fire crews contained the fire to one apartment, and three people sustained injuries, with one transferred to hospital in serious condition. Fire investigators will determine the cause of the blaze.
