A 23-year-old man, Joseph Jimenez Jr., was sentenced to life in prison without parole for fatally shooting two teenagers during a showing of "The Forever Purge" in a Southern California movie theater.

A 23-year-old man who fatally shot two teenagers during a 2021 showing of "The Forever Purge" at a Southern California movie theater was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Joseph Jimenez Jr. was found guilty in December of two counts of first-degree murder and a sentencing enhancement of personal use of a firearm causing death. Prosecutors said he shot Rylee Goodrich, 18, and Anthony Barajas, 19, in the back of the head while they watched the film at a theater in Corona, southeast of Los Angeles.
