An Uzbekistan court has sentenced 23 people, including an Indian national, to prison terms ranging from two to 20 years over the deaths of 68 children linked to contaminated cough syrup produced by India's Marion Biotech. The defendants were found guilty of tax evasion, sale of substandard or counterfeit medicines, abuse of office, negligence, forgery, and bribery. India subsequently cancelled the production licence for Marion Biotech, which manufactured the cough syrups.
