Seville, Spain plans to charge tourists three euros to visit the popular Plaza de España, as a means to generate income for preserving and improving the heritage site. The city council will permit local residents to continue visiting the site for free. Mayor José Luis Sanz claims the current budget for heritage upkeep is insufficient, and the fees will help maintain the square's architecture and decorations, as well as ensuring visitor safety.
