Jefferson County deputies fatally shot Anthony J. Stratmann Jr. during an arrest attempt, as he assaulted them with a hammer.

Jefferson County deputies fatally shot a 37-year-old man during an arrest attempt on Monday. The suspect, Anthony J. Stratmann Jr., was allegedly assaulting deputies with a hammer when they arrived at his relative's home to serve a no-bond arrest warrant for terroristic threats at the Jefferson County Courthouse. Stratmann was pronounced dead at the scene and no deputies were injured.
