BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, suggests a shift towards more active investment strategies due to rising interest rates, persistent inflation, and geopolitical risks. The changing economic landscape, termed a "new regime", offers active managers and hedge funds a better opportunity to outperform buy-and-hold portfolios. Clients, however, have shifted away from actively managed funds to passive products, presenting a challenge for the industry.
