The St. Tammany Fire Department is managing a large 850-acre controlled burn in St. Tammany Parish, south of Hwy. 21 and west of a new state highway being built. Meanwhile, Washington Parish President Ryan Seal issued a parish-wide burn ban due to dry, windy conditions posing a wildfire risk. The ban prohibits outdoor fires for at least two weeks and may be extended if conditions do not improve.
