IIT Madras and THSTI researchers develop Garbhini-GA2, an India-specific AI model for accurate fetus age estimation in pregnant women during the second and third trimesters, improving care and reducing mortality rates.

Researchers from IIT Madras and THSTI Faridabad have developed an India-specific AI model, Garbhini-GA2, to accurately estimate fetus age in pregnant women during the second and third trimesters. This model reduces error by nearly three times compared to existing Western population-based formulas, potentially improving the care of pregnant women and reducing maternal and infant mortality rates in India. Funded by the Grand Challenges India program and DBT, Govt. of India, the model is expected to enhance pregnancy care outcomes by providing accurate gestational age estimation.
