The US Navy awarded Huntington Ingalls Industries' Newport News Shipbuilding a $1.2bn contract for an overhaul of attack submarine Boise, which hasn't been at sea since 2015. The work, expected to be completed by September 2029, involves maintenance and restoration of the ship's hull, tanks, propulsion systems, electric plant, auxiliary systems, armament, and furnishings, as well as numerous ship alterations.
