The US military is tracking an unidentified high-altitude balloon flying over the western part of the country, but has determined it does not pose a threat. The balloon, which is flying at an altitude between 43,000-45,000 feet, has an unknown origin and purpose, but is moving eastward due to jetstream winds. Last year, a Chinese spy balloon traversed across the US, leading to an update in US protocols for identifying and tracking such objects on radar.
