A 29-year-old Manitoba man, Ryan Manoakeesick, has been charged with five counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his common-law partner, Amanda Clearwater, their three children, and Clearwater's niece. Manoakeesick, who has a history of mental health issues, will be requesting a mental health assessment to determine his fitness to stand trial. The bodies of the family members were discovered at multiple crime scenes in Carman, Manitoba.
