Lochaber National Park continues its bid for national park status, while 4 areas withdraw due to concerns.
Lochaber National Park plans to move forward with its bid for national park status despite other areas withdrawing due to concerns about over-tourism, restrictions, and rising house prices. Four areas, including Skye and Raasay, Affric and Loch Ness, and Wester Ross, have withdrawn their bids before the February 29 deadline. The Scottish Government aims to designate at least one new national park by 2026.
