European Commission unblocks €137bn in EU funds.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced Poland will receive up to €137bn ($148bn) in EU funds, after the new government in Warsaw began implementing reforms to restore judicial independence. The funds were previously blocked due to concerns over democracy backsliding. Unblocking the funds will provide an investment boost for Poland's economy, which has been affected by the fallout of the war in Ukraine and weak trading partner Germany.
