A 59-year-old former Clovis high school substitute teacher, Javier Gonzales, has been sentenced to six months of probation and an anger management course after being found guilty of battery for slapping an 18-year-old student during a disagreement over cell phone use and respect. The incident occurred at Clovis High School in February 2022 and was captured on security camera.
