A 31-year-old man from Paeroa was fatally shot by police in Waikato after a vehicle pursuit.

Christopher Taukiri, a 31-year-old man from Paeroa, was fatally shot by police in Waikato last week after a vehicle pursuit from Hamilton to Matamata. A Critical Incident Investigation is ongoing and police are seeking public footage or images of the vehicles involved, including a silver Mazda MPV and a black BMW 120i. The Independent Police Conduct Authority has been notified.
