The US Supreme Court has allowed the $2.46bn bankruptcy settlement between the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) and sex abuse victims to proceed, reversing a temporary pause implemented due to an appeal by 144 former scouts who opposed the agreement. The BSA filed for bankruptcy in 2020 after several US states allowed accusers to sue for decades-old abuse allegations. The settlement, approved in court in 2022, involves more than 82,000 abuse victims and will pay between $3,500 and $2.7m to each.
