The Montreal Canadiens claimed forward Colin White off waivers from the Pittsburgh Penguins and placed Brandon Gignac on waivers. White, who has not scored a point in 11 games for the Penguins this season, previously had five goals and five assists in 21 games with the American Hockey League affiliate Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. In a corresponding move, Gignac, who has one goal in seven NHL games and led the AHL affiliate Laval with 42 points in 43 games, was placed on waivers. White will make his Montreal debut against his former team, the Pittsburgh Penguins, on Thursday night.
