Former Brazil international footballer Dani Alves has been sentenced to 4.5 years in prison by a Spanish court for raping a young woman at a Barcelona nightclub in December 2022. The court also ordered Alves, a three-time Champions League winner, to five years of probation after serving his jail term, and to pay €150,000 ($162,000) in compensation to the victim. The court stated that the victim did not consent and there was evidence supporting the rape charge. Prosecutors had sought a nine-year jail sentence and 10 years of probation for the 40-year-old.
