University Health has commenced construction on a $450m expansion of its healthcare services at Retama Hospital in Northeast San Antonio, marking a significant step forward in providing accessible and high-quality healthcare to the community. The new facility, set to open in 2027, will feature a 166-bed acute care, full-service hospital and medical office building with capacity to expand up to 268 beds. The project follows other new construction projects initiated by University Health, including Vida, a multi-specialty healthcare center, and the Palo Alto Hospital adjacent to Texas A&M San Antonio.
