Remington, the oldest US gun manufacturer, relocates from New York to Georgia, closing its Ilion factory and eliminating 300 jobs.

Remington, the nation's oldest gun manufacturer, is relocating from New York's Mohawk Valley to Georgia, taking away a 200-year-old staple in Ilion and resulting in the loss of 300 jobs for the town of 7,600. Ilion Mayor John P. Stephens said, "Two hundred and eight years of history. Gone, gone." Remington will close its Ilion factory on March 4 and move operations to LaGrange, Georgia.
