Metra's Board of Directors approved a $335.4m contract for battery-powered trainsets, making it one of the first in the U.S. to operate this technology. The Chicago commuter railroad aims to improve cleaner power, quieter trains, and future planning. The trains will be constructed by Stadler U.S. and are set to be used on the Rock Island Line's Beverly Branch.
