Gardaí in Ireland are expanding a specialist unit that receives training on how to remove protesters from government buildings and public spaces. Last year, 23 gardaí completed the training, which includes skills such as cutting locks, removing glue, and safely removing protesters from heights. This comes amidst an increase in demonstrations in Dublin, with 617 protests in 2021, including 235 related to anti-immigration sentiments.
