Sonia Gandhi and JP Nadda were elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha.
Sonia Gandhi, former Congress President, and BJP's JP Nadda were elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan and Gujarat respectively. This marks Sonia Gandhi's first term in the Upper House after serving five terms as a Lok Sabha MP. BJP's Chunnilal Garasiya, Madan Rathore, Govindbhai Dholakia, Jasvantsinh Parmar, and Mayank Nayak were also elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat. A total of 56 members of Rajya Sabha from 15 states will retire in April, with their elections to be held on February 27. The last date for filing nominations was February 15.
