Severn Trent Water was fined for polluting the River Trent.

Severn Trent Water, a water company, has been fined £2.072m for polluting the River Trent with raw sewage between November 2019 and February 2020, due to the failure of two screw pumps at Strongford Wastewater Treatment Works. The company admitted to two charges of illegally discharging raw sewage in a prosecution by the Environmental Agency, and the court determined that Severn Trent failed to have a proper contingency planning system in place.
