Nine to become new home of the Melbourne Cup.

Nine Network has secured the broadcast rights for the Melbourne Cup and the spring racing carnival until 2029. The deal includes rights to air Oaks Day, Stakes Day, and Derby Day, fulfilling the legal requirement to broadcast the Cup live and free to Australians. The agreement ends a six-month-long negotiation process and is believed to be more lucrative than the previous $100 million deal Network Ten had across five years, with Tabcorp covering most of the expenses.
