Nigeria's Federal Government has officially transferred the operations of the 700-megawatt Zungeru Hydroelectric Power Plant to Penstock Limited, a concessionaire. The $1.3 billion project, funded by a loan from China, is anticipated to significantly contribute to meeting Nigeria's growing energy needs, providing nearly 10% of the country's overall domestic energy demands. The Zungeru Hydroelectric Power Plant, Nigeria's second-largest hydroelectricity power station, has a capacity of 700 MW and is expected to generate approximately 2.64 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually.
