Hunter music festivals are in danger.

Music festivals in Newcastle and the Hunter region of Australia have declined due to a "perfect storm" of factors. These include rising insurance and artist fees, cost-of-living pressures, and changes in buying habits since COVID-19. The region once hosted numerous music festivals, but only four have survived into 2024. Popular festivals like Groovin The Moo and This That have faced cancellations due to poor ticket sales. Smaller, locally-focused festivals have emerged since the pandemic, but the future of large-scale music festivals remains uncertain.
