Multnomah County Chair, Jessica Vega Pederson, announced a four-point plan to address delayed ambulance response times in the county, after American Medical Response (AMR) failed to meet contractual response time requirements. The plan includes increasing hiring, adding retention pay, subcontracting with outside agencies, and fully staffing Basic Life Support ambulances for non-urgent calls. AMR has proposed reducing paramedic teams from two to one paramedic and one Emergency Medical Technician for Advanced Life Support ambulances.
