A man accused of murder allegedly strangled a dog owner to death before returning to the crime scene to steal his labradoodle, a court heard. Donald Patience's body was found in his home in Greater Manchester after police initially responded to reports of a burglary. Ian Connell, 39, denies the charges. Prosecutors claim that Patience was an "educated man" with access to money, which led to Connell abusing his generosity.
