The European Commission has conditionally approved the joint venture between Orange and MASMOVIL in Spain, creating a combined entity valued at €18.6 billion ($20.1 billion). The merged company will become the largest operator in Spain, with plans to invest in 5G and fiber infrastructure. The European Commission has set conditions to maintain competition, including requiring MASMOVIL to sell spectrum to Digi and enter an optional national roaming agreement. The deal is expected to close by the end of Q1 2024.
