A 38-year-old man, Shannon Gooden, who had lost his right to own guns due to a 2007 felony assault conviction, fatally shot two police officers and a firefighter in Burnsville, Minnesota. Gooden unsuccessfully attempted to restore his firearm rights in 2020. Despite negotiation attempts by police, Gooden, who had multiple guns and a large amount of ammunition, fired at police from his home where seven children were also inside. Gooden was found dead in the home hours later.
