Mina Greiss was awarded $38,000 in nominal damages in a defamation case against media company Seven for falsely reporting he spat at Hayne's rape victim.

Mina Greiss, a supporter of former NRL star Jarryd Hayne, has been awarded $38,000 in nominal damages in a defamation case against media company Seven over false reporting that he spat at Hayne's rape victim. The court found that Seven falsely reported Greiss spat at the victim and stared at her, instead ruling that he spat in the garden bed in her direction and stared at her as she walked past. The judge awarded Greiss nominal damages for the Facebook post, with damages plus interest totaling $35,000 for his feelings of shame, anger, embarrassment, and distress.
