Malaysia's King, Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar, has become the proud owner of a special-edition "GOLD 1" number plate after winning a record RM1.5 million bid. This marks the highest-ever amount paid for a car number plate in the country, with the money going to Malaysia's federal government. The "GOLD" series of number plates was introduced to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Malaysia's Federal Territories Day.
