Germany's residential construction to decline 35% by 2026 due to increased costs and policy inaction, as per ifo institute and Euroconstruct forecast.

Germany's residential construction is projected to decline by 35% by 2026, according to the ifo institute, which cited the latest projections by the Euroconstruct forecasting network. Europe as a whole is expected to see a 13% decline in residential construction by 2026, with only about 1.5 million housing units built, compared to 2023. The decline is mainly attributed to rising construction and financing costs, as well as lack of policy decisions.
