France and Germany plan to propose reducing EU norms they believe hinder business growth. French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said he will make the proposals in March with German Economy Minister Robert Habeck, arguing that excessive European Union regulations are holding back EU companies and not applied to US and Chinese businesses. The EU is in a period of near-stagnation, with France cutting its GDP growth forecast for this year and announcing €10 billion ($10.8 billion) in spending cuts.
