Newcastle University and Unite Students, a leading UK student accommodation provider, have announced a £250m joint venture to replace the university's largest accommodation block, Castle Leazes. The current block, built in 1969, will be demolished and replaced with new blocks containing 2,000 beds. Demolition is set to begin this summer, with the new accommodation expected to open in 2027 and 2028.
