Spain conservative leader in dock as Galicia holds election.
Spain's northwest Galicia region held a close election on 18 February, where polls suggested the conservative People's Party (PP) could lose its absolute majority, held for 15 years. The PP has governed Galicia since 2009, with leader Alberto Nunez Feijoo, who left the region in 2022. If the PP loses its majority, a coalition between the left-wing nationalist BNG party and Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez's Socialists could form. This tight race could impact the conservative party's leader and influence Spain's national politics.
