The Albanese government review into number of political staffers.

The Albanese government has initiated a review to determine appropriate levels of resourcing, including staffing, for federal parliamentary offices. The review comes as new figures reveal a significant increase in government staffing since October 2022, including for the Prime Minister. The Parliamentary Workplace Support Service is conducting the Independent Review of Resourcing in Parliamentarian Offices, reaching out to politically stretched offices for interviews, focus groups, and surveys. The review aims to report to Anthony Albanese and Special Minister of State Don Farrell by October. This move follows a previous decision to cut adviser staff numbers for independent and crossbench politicians during the current electoral term. In the 2023 budget, an extra frontline electorate staff position was funded for all federal parliamentarians.
