NHS to provide 24-hour wearable drug pump for 1,000 UK advanced Parkinson's patients, replacing tablets with continuous medication infusion.

The NHS in England is set to introduce a wearable drug infusion device for up to 1,000 Parkinson's patients. The treatment, known as Produodopa, uses a pump to release medicine into the patient's bloodstream continuously for better symptom management. The device delivers medication 24 hours a day, eliminating the need for patients to take multiple tablets throughout the day or at night. Parkinson's affects around 153,000 people in the UK, with no cure currently available.
