UK wants ‘absolute guarantee’ of no repeat of UNRWA staff allegations.

UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron has called for an "absolute guarantee" that UN's Palestinian aid agency, UNRWA, will not employ staff who may potentially be willing to attack Israel. This comes after allegations regarding UNRWA staff were previously brought to light. The UK is seeking assurances that the agency will uphold a strict vetting process and maintain transparency in its efforts. The UK, like the US and other donor countries, has temporarily frozen support to UNRWA following accusations that some staff took part in Hamas' October 7 assault. The UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, has appealed for the restoration of funding and new donations amid the ongoing conflict.
